Teaching
The core values of my teaching philosophy are to encourage creative thinking and problem solving using whatever mediums are available for students to find new and interesting ways to tell their own personal stories. In addition, I believe in the importance of process and understanding not just technical mastery of individual programs and practices, but in truly understanding the why of each step. Understanding theory, technique, and context separately from any one method of creation allows for fluidity in our ever-evolving world. Programs update often in modern times, but with a solid foundation that recognizes techniques and the context in which they were used in both the past and in the present, students are prepared to create not just in the now, but ideally far into the future.
